Onix

Onix is dual-type Pokémon. They were first introduced during Generation I. They are both Rock-type and Ground-type Pokémon.

They evolve into Steelix when they are traded while holding a Metal Coat or exposed to a Metal Coat. They are found living in mountains and caves.

Characteristics

Onix is made from a giant chain of boulders. These boulders become shorter towards the end. Their tails are much smaller than their heads. They weigh 210 kilograms or 463 pounds. They are 8.8 meters tall. Their length makes them the tallest Rock-type Pokémon.

They have black eyes and a round snout. As they grow older, they become similar to black diamonds. They have a magnet inside their brain that acts as an internal compass. This compass guides them wherever they need to go. The magnets prevent them from getting lost.

Onix makes tunnels under the ground at over 50 miles per hour. It causes tremors and terrifying roars that go a long way. They get absorbed by their bodies when they encounter hard objects on the way.

These can make their bodies very sturdy. They also consume boulders for food. They are capable of rotating their heads at full 360 degrees. They are very aggressive Pokémon that constantly attack humans.

They usually attack when they are in pain. It is believed that Onix leaves for about 100 years and evolves into Steelix after its composition turns more diamond-like.

They live in mountains and caves and can often be seen tunneling deeper inside caves. Their heavy weight and extreme force can often lead to tremors that can be heard in far places.
