Abilities

    • Volt-Absorb

Whenever an electric-type move hits this Pokemon, it heals for 1/4 of its maximum HP, negating any other effect on it. This ability will not take effect if this Pokemon is ground-type and thus immune to Electric moves. Electric moves will ignore this Pokemon's substitute. This effect includes non-damaging moves, i.e. thunder wave.

    • Illuminate

Overworld: If the lead Pokemon has this ability, the wild encounter rate is doubled. This ability has no effect in battle.

Hidden Abilities

Whenever a water-type move hits this Pokemon, it heals for 1/4 of its maximum HP, negating any other effect on it. Water moves will ignore this Pokemon's substitute.

Chinchou

Japanese: チョンチー Chonchie

Chinchou pokemon has a type, Water and Electric. It belongs to Generation II. It evolves to become Lanturn at level 27.

Characteristics

Chinchou is a fish-like Pokémon. It’s very small and weighs only 12 kilograms or 26.5 pounds. It’s 0.5 meters tall with a slow leveling rate. It has a circular, blue body with big yellow eyes.

Its pupils are black and look like a plus sign. It has fish-like semi-transparent fins in light-blue color. Its feet are very small. Its tail looks like a pair of large flexible antennae. These antennae are curved over its head and are made from its fins. The end of these antennae has a yellow drop dangling down.

Chinchou is 50% male and 50% female. Preys are attracted to Chinchou because of the illuminating drops in its tail. It flashes these lights to communicate with others of its kind and claim its territory. There are electricity-generating cells inside their antennae.

It creates a lot of electricity that even Chinchou can sometimes get uncomfortable. It uses this electricity to catch prey by discharging positive and negative energy to freeze its prey and protect itself. It has the ability to volt, absorb and illuminate.

It lives at the very bottom of the sea and is rarely ever spotted on the surface of the sea. However, Chinchou has been seen walking on land in the anime.
