Lapras

Japanese: ラプラス Laplace

Lapras are dual-type Pokémon. They are both Water-type and Ice-type Pokémon. They were first introduced in Generation I. They are not known to evolve from any other Pokémon, but they have a Gigantamax form.

Characteristics

Lapras are large sea Pokémon. They resemble plesiosaurs and are blue with darker-blue spots all over them. They have cream-colored undersides. They have large brown eyes, a short horn, and curled ears.

Their necks are long, and they have four flippers. The foremost flippers are larger than the hind flippers. They have a heavy, gray shell on their back. Their shells are covered in blunt knobs. They weigh around 220 kilograms or 485 pounds. They are 2.5 meters tall with a slow leveling rate.

Lapras are gentle Pokémon. They are helpful to humans and enjoy ferrying people across water. Unfortunately, their gentle nature made them a very easy target for hunters in the past. They were near extinction at one point.

However, recent protection efforts have saved their species, and Lapras are now abundant in nature. They are intelligent Pokémon and can understand human speech. They travel in large pods across the seas. They can also develop psychic abilities such as telepathy.

As Gigantamax Lapras, they become larger, and their bodies are more armored. Their shell resembles a cruise ship with four gray and red stripes surrounding it. They have four spikes on top of their shell and one steel spike resembling a funnel.

Their eyes can change colors between white, yellow, and blue. Five thousand people can ride on the shell of Gigantamax Lapras. They use their giant ring to break icebergs that prevent them from swimming.
