Staryu

Japanese: ヒトデマン Hitodeman

Staryus are Water-type Pokémon. They were first introduced during Generation I. They evolve into Starmie when they are exposed to a Water Stone. They are found in the bottom of oceans on the seafloor.

Characteristics

Staryus are golden-brown Pokémon. They resemble starfish and have five appendages. These appendages or arms are surrounded by an external organ known as “the core.” This organ resembles a gold metal casing.

They have a red gem in the center of their body and have a golden ring looped around their lower left point. They weigh about 34.5 kilograms or 76.1 pounds. They are 0.8 meters tall with a slow leveling rate.

Lumineons prey on Staryus and like to feed on their limbs. If Staryus lose their limbs to a predator, they can quickly grow it back and stay unharmed as long as their core is intact.

Their core glows at all times. It glows at its brightest when night falls and can be spotted. Many staryus travel from the sea’s floor to the surface and float on the water as they align with the stars.

They then flicker in the night as their core displays a connection with the celestial bodies present in space. If Staryus do not feed properly and become weak, their core may slowly faint and flash. Many groups of Staryus gather at the end of summer and form a steady rhythm.

Even though they primarily live on the seafloor, there have been times when they were spotted in rivers that lead to oceans. The camouflage used to be their signature move in the past.
