Butterfree

Butterfree consists of two types, Bug and Flying. It is part of Generation I. The evolution process starts at level 10 from Metapod. Caterpie is its final form. Gigantamax is the form of Butterfree.

Its wings, covered with poisonous powder, repel water. This allows it to fly in the rain.

Characteristics

With its purple body and vague anthropomorphic features, Butterfree is a Pokémon that looks like a butterfly. There are only two body segments, and its legs are light blue. A leg’s upper portion resembles a small hand with three fingers, and its lower portion resembles a foot without digits. Butterfly has two black antennae, a light blue snout with two fangs underneath, and large, red compound eyes. On closer inspection, the red compound eyes are composed of countless tiny eyes. There are two pairs of white wings with black veining. Female Butterfrees have two black oval scales, while males have two white scales.

As Butterfree flies, its wings have poisonous scales that easily fall off. These scales are harmful if inhaled. It is dangerous if inhaled, but it will protect Caterpie from bird Pokémon using this powder. Honey can be collected even in the rain with this powder, as it repels water. As Butterfree searches for nectar with the hairs on its legs, it can detect the scent of blossoming flowers six miles away from its nest. Butterfree and Cutiefly sometimes fight over flower fields. In the anime, Heracross pierces trees to consume sap from the roots. Butterfree inhabits temperate forests and jungles, but they have been spotted flying near ocean shores as part of their migratory breeding patterns.

Gigantamax Butterfree enlarges to gigantic proportions as well as changes its appearance. It turns from light and dark green to white and light green with patterns. Three red clouds surround them, and the antennae become bright green. A radiant glow appears in their eyes.

The wings and back of Butterfree are its most potent weapons, covered in a fur-like circle and surrounded by several green scales. Paralysis, poisoning, and sleep can be released from their rankings. A crystallized form of Gigantamax energy created the scales. The wings can lift a ten-ton truck through a simple flap, spreading poisonous scales by the wind it generates.

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, before the DLC for The Isle of Armor, Butterfree was the only known Pokémon capable of using the move Rage Powder. Likewise, Gigantamax Butterfree is the only known Pokémon capable of using the G-Max Move G-Max Befuddle.
