Electrode

Japanese: マルマイン Marumine

Electrode are Electric-type Pokémon. They were first introduced during Generation I. They evolve from Voltorb at level 30.

In the Hisui region, they have an Electric-type and Grass-type regional form. They evolve into Hisuian Voltorb when they are exposed to Leaf Stone. Electrodes live in power plants where fresh electricity is generated.

Characteristics

Electrode are round Pokémon. They resemble a Poke ball that has been turned upside down. Their top half is white, and their bottom half is red. Many trainers often pick them thinking them to be an item.

They are depicted as hollow Pokémon. Many people know them as “Bomb balls” due to their explosive and unpredictable behavior. Their gender is unknown. They weigh around 66.6 kilograms or 146.8 pounds. They are 1.2 meters tall with a Medium fast leveling rate.

They consume fresh electricity from power plants. Their excessive consumption can often cause blackouts. They move faster after they have just consumed a lot of electricity. They are known to move in response to even the smallest stimuli.

They also explode with small stimuli. They do so just to entertain themselves or because they have overfed on electricity. However, unlike Voltorb, Electrode can control their explosive nature and do not explode unpredictably. They often drift into the wind when they are fully stored with electricity.

Hisuian Electrode also resemble Poke balls. Their upper half is filled with wooden patterns, and their lower half is red. Their eyes are large black holes with a glare.

Their surface is similar to that of an Apricorn. When they are enraged, they unleash electric currents equal to 20 lightning bolts. They are the only Pokémon capable of learning the Chloroblast move.
