Abilities

    • Shield-Dust

This Pokemon is immune to the extra effects of moves used against it. An extra effect is a move's chance, listed as an "effect chance", to inflict a status ailment, cause a stat change, or make the target flinch in addition to the move's main effect. For example, thunder shock's paralysis is an extra effect, but thunder wave's is not, nor are knock off's item removal and air cutter's increased critical hit rate.

Hidden Abilities

    • Run-Away

This Pokemon is always successful fleeing from wild battles, even if trapped by a move or ability.

Caterpie

If you touch the feeler on top of its head, it will release a horrible stink to protect itself.

Caterpie is a Bug-type Pokémon from Generation I. In level 7, it becomes Metapod, and in level 10, it becomes Butterfree.

Characteristics

Pokémon Caterpie has green and yellow undersides and a teardrop-shaped tail similar to a caterpillar. Its segmented body has yellow markings down the sides, resembling its eyes, which serve to scare predators off. It releases a stench to repel predators by means of its bright red antenna (osmeterium) on its head.

Although Caterpie is camouflaged in green foliage, Flying-type Pokémon often prey on it. Its tiniest feet are equipped with suction cups, allowing it to climb just about any surface. In addition to being easy to capture, Caterpie grows rapidly, making it an excellent choice for new Trainers.

Caterpie shed their skin many times over the course of their development before finally wrapping themselves in thick silk. It can also spit this silk to trap enemies, as shown in the anime. It eats a hundred leaves a day because of its insatiable appetite. Sometimes it eats larger leaves than itself. A Vermilion flower is its favorite food in Pokémon Adventures. Normally, Caterpie is found in tropical and temperate rainforests.
